How we check listings
Where listings come from
- Sent by the business. The owner, or someone with their permission, adds it with Add your business. We review it before it goes live.
- Added by our team. We research Jamaican-owned businesses from published sources, including ones the community suggests. These stay marked as added by our team until the owner claims them.
What we check
- Jamaican ownership: a published source, such as a news article, an interview or the business's own About page, saying an owner is of Jamaican birth or heritage.
- The business itself: its own website, social page or another listing showing it exists, where it is and how to reach it.
- Where the buttons go: “Order online”, “Shop online” and “Book” only appear when they lead to a page where you can actually order, buy or book. Otherwise the button simply says “Visit website”.
Each listing's Sources section links to the ownership source and the business source, with the date we last checked them. Until the owner claims a listing we added, it shows just the sites and the date, not a summary of what they say about the owner. A published source is good evidence, but ownership can change, so check important details with the business.
What the labels mean
Added by our team from published sources
We added it from published sources, and the business hasn't confirmed the details yet. The owner can claim it to manage it.
Unverified
We haven't yet found a published source confirming the business is Jamaican-owned.
Incomplete listing
Some details are still to confirm, such as the street address, phone number, opening hours or whether it's still open. The label lists which ones.
Sources
The published sources behind the listing and the date we last checked them.
Order online / Shop online
Goes to a page where you can order food or buy online, such as the business's online menu, shop or a delivery app.
Book
Goes to a page where you can book a room, table, tour or appointment.
Visit website
Goes to the business's own website.
Spotted something wrong?
Email listings@stultzenterprise.com with the listing's name and what needs changing, and a link to a source if you have one. If it's your business, you can claim it from its listing to keep it up to date yourself, or ask us to remove it.
